Team India’s batter Poonam Raut set a unique example during the Day/Night Test match between India and Australia women’s teams being played in Carrara Over, Gold Coast. Australia’s left-arm spinner Sophie Molyneux was bowling the 81st over of the Indian innings. During this, one of his balls turned a lot, which Poonam could not play well. During this Molyneux made a tremendous appeal but the umpire declared not out. But despite this, the Indian batsmen went off the field. Everyone, including the Australian players, is shocked by his decision.
Poonam played an innings of 36 runs
Poonam was looking in good rhythm in this match. During this, he played a century partnership with Smriti Mandhana while batting softly. She got out after scoring 36 runs. Poonam hit two fours during her innings.
Mooney’s surprise
Australia opener Beth Mooney, who was speaking to commentators over a microphone almost immediately after the incident, said she was not sure whether Raut’s bat touched the ball or not. When Mooney was asked if she would have gone off the field like this, the Australian opener said, “Absolutely not because the umpire has given not out.”

Former India wicket-keeper batsman Saba Karim termed Poonam Raut’s decision as strange. Talking on Sony Sports channel, he said, “To be honest, it is a very strange decision. Because there is no DRS in this test match. At the same time, former women’s cricketer Nusheen Al Khadeer said, hope that Poonam will not have any regrets now.
