Types of Chemical Reactions: We are living in a world when everything happens around our life depends on the reaction. Whatever happens around us consists of a chemical reaction. If we encounter any color change, state change, the formation of a precipitate, the evolution of gas, etc we can straightaway say that it is a chemical reaction.

Thus, we can say that if any change in the physical or chemical state of the matter, the chemical reaction takes place. Very often questions arise that what are the different types of chemical reactions?
So, the various types of chemical reactions are as follows
1. Combination Reaction
The combination means to combine. So in combination reaction, two or more types of reactants react with each other. On the reaction, a single product is formed. For example, A and B are two reactants. They react to form a single product C
A + B —> C
2. Decomposition Reaction
It is the opposite reaction of Combination. In this reaction type, a single reactant breakdown to form two or more products in the presence of a medium. The medium can be heat, light, and electricity. For example, if A is a reactant that decomposes to form B and C. This reaction is known as decomposition.
A —> B + C
3. Displacement Reaction
Displacement is the reaction in which a more reactive atom displaces a less reactive one. For example, a compound AB reacts with C. The affinity of C with B is more than A. So, C displaces A from AB and form CB.
AB + C —-> CB + A
4. Double Displacement or Double Decomposition
This reaction depends on the exchange of ions. When the exchange of ions between two substances takes place, a Double Displacement reaction occurs. This reaction is also characterized by the formation of a precipitate.
For example, two compounds AB and CD react with each other. Ion A and C exchange their position to form compound CB and AD.
AB + CD —–> CB + AD
