Advocacy in the world starts in 1327 by Edward III. At that time, there was a specific dress code for judges only. Also, they have to wear a wig. During the initial days, advocates were divided into distinct parts. They are Students, Pleeder (Advocate), Bencher, and Barrister. They have to wear golden-red clothes along with brownish shade gown. Also, in 1637, changes in the dress code of judges and advocates were done.

How it all starts?
In the year 1694, the queen of Britain, Marry, died due to Chicken Pox or Chechak. In queen’s memory, her husband, king Williams ordered judges and advocates to wear a black gown. From then onwards, this dress code never overturned.
Nowadays, the black coat becomes a symbol of advocacy. It is now compulsory for advocates to wear a black coat and a white shirt during coat preceding. It is believed that this dress code provides discipline and faith in justice.
