India on 2020 is now heading towards their 74th day of Independence. India celebrates its independence on 15th of August with great enthusiasm and zeal. However, this year due to Coronavirus the grand level celebration of India’s Independence Day cannot be seen. But the most important part of the whole event, Flag hoisting is done by our respected Prime Minister. Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2020 after hoisting the flag at Red Fort on Independence Day surpasses the 6th time flag hoisting moment of former PM Late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
On this 15th August, Narendra Modi unfurls the Indian Flag from Red Fort for the seven consecutive time. He then become the only Non-congresssi PM to hoist Tricolor for the seventh time in the history of India. Everyone not get this chance to hoist flag on Red Fort on 15th August. Only Prime Minister of India can do this. However, in the 74th year’s long history of India, there are two Prime Ministers who are unable to hoist the flag on Independence Day.
Late Shri Guljari Lal Nanda and Late Shri Chandrasekhar were among the two Prime Minister of India who are unable to do this. Shri Guljari Lal Nanda was the PM of India for two times. However, the reason behind this is their short tenure. Shri Guljari Lal Nanda was the two times acting Prime Minister of India for 13 days respectively. While the tenure of Shri Chandrasekhar didn’t exceed 8 months and nor the Independence Day fall under his regime.
Late Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru was the only Prime Minister to hoist the flag for 17th times, followed by Late Indira Gandhi for 16 times. Apart from Nehru Gandhi dynasty, Former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh was the only Prime Minister to unfurl the flag 10 times.
